The term as currently used, explains using legal statutes as political weapons against an opponent.
Doing so requires a considerable stretch of the imagination, not to mention bending the truth in order to paint its subject guilty as sin.
A perfect example is the recent felony conviction in New York of Donald Trump for falsifying accounting records to shield the facts of his payoff to a porn star. She was paid $130,000 by Trump’s attorney.
Bookkeeping/accounting irregularities wherein there is no intent to defraud a victim are by New York statute, misdemeanors, not felonies.
Alvin Bragg, the democratic District Attorney, had the questionable latitude to change the indictment into a felony which he did, doubtlessly at the urging of power brokers in his party. That this travesty happened for purely political reasons [smear Trump] is obvious to any thinking person.
A District Attorney who chooses not to prosecute drug dealers and thieves (shoplifting under $750) but elects to enhance a misdemeanor charge into a felony for political reasons is a disgrace to his office. Trumps’s appeal will almost certainly see this travesty overturned.
Legal experts like William Barr, two-times U.S Attorney General, reasonably predict such a reversal.
Some readers of these pages can only see current events through the lens of ignorance, malice, or a flawed intellect. Seemingly impervious to logic, they do not process information in a linear way.
One reader last week wasted paragraph after paragraph ecstatically celebrating the guilty verdict; such a dim bulb could turn a single 2X4 into a truckload of lumber and not notice the difference. Pathetic.
Once again for the record: I do not endorse Trump, like him, or admire him.
I will vote for him in order to correct the current slide toward mediocrity and second rate status our republic presently is suffering at the hands of democratic party fanatics with open borders, inflation, weak foreign policy, appeasement of aggressor enemies, a weakened military, hamstrung oil/gas industry, wasteful spending on “green” programs . . . the list is endless.
If you like the past several years and think the future is improving, by all means vote for Biden-Harris (I’m fairly sure one hapless reader will).
If you see what is happening and want a better, stronger America, vote conservative.
