MITCH’S CORNER
This past week was a very busy, but fun week at the 2024 Freestone County Fair. The new facility was awesome.
It was great getting to take pictures in the shade under the new awning. It was the 102nd year of the Freestone County Fair & Rodeo.
The board of directors did an outstanding job planning it. Thank you Jody Bodine, Todd Craig, Brent Holmes, Michelle Welch, Will Steen, Keith Brockman, Marla Lookabill, Clint Fryer, and Collin Puckett for organizing a great week.
A huge shout to Emily Goodson for organizing the Miss Freestone County Children’s Pageant and the Miss Freestone County Pageant. I know it took so much time to plan and organize these events. I know all of the girls enjoyed themselves.
I loved watching all of the kiddos show this week at the Freestone County Fair. Their smiles and facial expressions were great when they won or their friend won.
I want to thank my beautiful wife, Katy. There is no way I would have made it this past week at the fair and rodeo without her by my side.
She made sure I had what I needed, kept my paperwork organized, and even snapped some photos with me. Our little nephew, Boone, was our boss throughout the week some as well.
He told us exactly what to do. He loved all the animals.
The Mexia Rodeo is taking place this weekend and the Teague 4th of July Rodeo will be held July 4-6. Make sure to come out and support these rodeos. They are both hosting their 94th annual rodeo this year.
It is hard to believe that June is almost over already. I’m praying July slows down just a little bit before school starts back up in August.
This week’s Bible verse is my wife’s favorite verse, Ruth 1:16. It says, “But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.”
I am so thankful that God will never leave me or forsake me. He is all that we need on this earth. The things of this earth truly do not matter.
I am also very thankful for my wife and all that she does to support me in what I do. There are some long hours we have to put in after the school day when school is in session, but she is always by my side.
I work four jobs and most of the time, I feel like I need four more jobs to keep up with all the bills and grocery trips. Prices continue to increase.
I pray something happens soon and prices begin to decrease some. It is crazy what it costs to go to the store these days.
My prayer for us this week is that we will stay strong in the Lord because He is all that we need. Until next week, make him famous in all that you do!
