Press on twoard the goal

Wow! Where did the summer go? It is off to another busy start with the school year. We had Meet the Teacher on Monday night and then the first day of school was yesterday, Aug. 14.

Wow! Where did the summer go? It is off to another busy start with the school year. We had Meet the Teacher on Monday night and then the first day of school was yesterday, Aug. 14.

Friday Night Lights will be kicking off on Friday, Aug. 30, throughout the state. I am looking forward to covering the Friday night games.

This week’s Bible verse is Phillipans 3:12-14. It says, “Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

So many times we try to pursue the things of this world. We try to make more money in order to buy more things or to buy a bigger home or a newer car. There is nothing wrong with working hard. However, our main focus should be on God.

All of our belongings on this earth will just remain behind when we pass away. Things will rust and be no good overtime.

I am reminded of the hymn, “Because He Lives.” The lyrics go ¨… And because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives; all fear is gone. Because I know He holds the future and life is worth the living just because He lives.¨ We often stress out so much on this earth, but the things on this earth should not get us done. Our priority should be our relationship with Christ and everything else falls in behind that. In the scheme of things, what we stress out about on this earth, truly does not matter.

My prayer for us this week is that we will press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Until next week, make him famous in all that you do!
