My 36th birthday on Friday, Aug. 16, wa good. My wife surprised me with an amazing birthday cake. It was a chocolate cake with peanut butter and Reese’s Pieces.

The first three days of school were fast and furious. There are so many changes and I find myself going non-stop. I am a planner and love to have weeks planned out at a time. However, God stopped me in my tracks once again last week and reminded me that everything will be ok and not to worry.

I have been reminded lately that this earth is not our home, but our home is in Heaven. We work ourselves up way too much about getting things done on this earth that truly does not matter when looking at the big picture. The one true thing that matters is our relationship with Jesus Christ.

Am I there yet? No, not where I want to be. I want to strive to be more Christlike daily, but oftentimes, the things of this world interfere. They may not be bad things, but they take up our time and put God on the back burner sometimes.

I will never be perfect on this earth. I’m going to make mistakes. I just pray that I am able to grow closer to my Lord and Savior each day and not let the things of this world consume all of my time. I pray that those who know me know that God loves them and that He is truly all that we need.

This week’s Bible verse is Hebrews 13:14-16. It says, “For this world is not our home; we are looking forward to our everlasting home in heaven. With Jesus’ help we will continually offer our sacrifice of praise to God by telling others of the glory of his name. Don’t forget to do good and to share what you have with those in need, for such sacrifices are very pleasing to him.”

I pray that I will always be able to share the love of God with others and that they will know that God loves them. I am so thankful for everyone that God has put in my life. They have helped me become who I am today.

As I end my weekly column this week, let us remember that we are not promised tomorrow on this earth, but we are promised tomorrow with our Father in Heaven.

My prayer for us this week is that we remember that this earth is not our home, but our everlasting home is in Heaven. Until next week, make him famous in all that you do!
