Lions defeat Mexia for second straight win

The Teague Lions responded after the Mexia Blackcats threw the first punch, scoring a 28-20 home win Friday night, Sept. 20.

The Blackcats scored on a well-executed, methodical drive to open the ball game, but the Lions responded, winning the battle in the trenches. From there the Lions proved to out-physical the ’Cats throughout the ball game.

In the trenches on the offensive side of the ball, James Ingram, Jacob Matthews, Evan Gilbert, Lucky Jones, Jesus Vera and Landon Evans were all vital in the hard-fought battle against long-time rival Mexia.
