Clara Evaughn Cox was born on Nove. 2, 1930, in Freestone to Bill Early and Emma Mae (Beasley) Bodine. She went home to her heavenly father on Sept. 17, 2024, at the age of 93. Clara passed away peacefully at her residence with her family present.
Evaughn was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved life and friends. Evaughn retired after 27 years working for Doctors Gage, Cox and Halbert. She loved everyone that came into the office and treated them with special care. Her hobbies included sewing and quilting along with her flower beds at her residence. She was an avid quilt-maker and made quilts for every member of her family. Evaughn also made bean bags in all different sizes and donated them to McClanes Children Hospital in Temple to the NICU unit. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, PTA, den mother for Boy Scouts, Little League baseball, and Band Boosters.
Evaughn always greeted everyone with “Morning” no matter what time of day it was. When she was asked why she always said “Morning,” she told them she was just getting an early start for tomorrow. Evaughn always had a smile on her face when you would meet her. Evaughn attended Teague High and was with the Class of 1949. Evaughn married Abe Cox Jr. on May 16,1952.
