Public hearing on tax abatement postponed

The Freestone County Commissioners Court, during their Oct. 21 meeting, postponed a public hearing it had planned to hold, regarding participation in a tax abatement plan and adopting new tax abatement guidelines.

County Judge Linda Grant asked the commissioners whether they’d had a chance to study the proposed new tax abatement guidelines.

Although the commissioners had planned to decide whether or not to participate in a tax abatement pursuant to Chapter 312 of the Texas Tax Code, and to adopt new tax abatement guidelines, ultimately, the court members agreed to postpone the discussion to a future meeting and took no action on the matter that day.
