The Teague Lions secured the third seed in District 9-3A, D-1 in last Friday’s 36-21 home win over the Diboll Lumberjacks in the regular season finale.
The Lions started off sluggish, but with a lightning delay that took close to an hour before play resumed, the Lions re-grouped and were able to finish strong in the district match-up with a lot of playoff implications on the line.
Junior Jaden Cole got the Lions on the scoreboard first with a 50-yard touchdown run. Afterwards, a Zak Leija pass to Korey Silar converted the two-point conversion attempt as the Lions took an 8-7 lead with 1:13 left in the first quarter.
