A dedication ceremony for the Lt. Col. Wiliam Barret Travis “Victory or Death” letter plaque, commemorating the sacrifices made at the Battle of the Alamo in 1836, was held Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Freestone County Courthouse lawn.
Opening remarks were given by Freestone County Judge Linda Grant. The welcome was given by William Shelton, chairman of the Freestone County Historical Commission. Andrew Weitner, pastor of New Life Church of Fairfield, gave the invocation.
Grant led the Pledge of Allegiance and the Teague High School band played the National Anthem.
