The Teague Lions football team wrapped up the 2024 campaign with an overall record of 8-4, a thirdplace district record of 3-2, and a 3-A Division 1 bi-district championship.
Teague started out the season with a 28-7 win at New Waverly on Aug. 30. The following week in the home opener, a field goal by Tolar in the closing seconds was enough to beat Teague 23-21. After that setback, Teague close out the non-district portion of its schedule with three straight wins.
The first of those three victories came at the expense of Ferris in a 34-3 thrashing on Sept. 13. The Teague defense tallied nine tackles for loss and two interceptions in that ballgame. The following week against visiting Mexia, Teague running back Ny’Land Coaster erupted for 143 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries. His longest run of the night came on a 46-yard scoring play as the Lions outlasted the Blackcats 28-20.
