Don’t jump on the hot stove

The first time I ever heard the term, “best and brightest,” was about the cabinet that President Kennedy assembled in 1961. Lyndon Johnson, coming back from the first meeting, was in awe of their knowledge and described their brilliance to Sam Rayburn. Rayburn replied that he would be more comfortable if at least one of them had at least run for county sheriff. Subsequently, these same people buried us in Vietnam.

The best and brightest now urge the financial industry to be further deregulated so that it can bestow the benefits upon the rest of us. By making crypto currency as viable as the U.S. dollar bill, it sounds similar to the past events like in 1981 when we deregulated the savings and loan industry and subsequently spent more money than in WWII bailing it out. In 2008, after years of deregulating banks, the entire world almost went into a depression.

As humans our time span for remembering seems to get shorter, but even an old housecat remembers not to jump on a hot stove again.
