The Teague Lady Lions basketball team hosted the Fairfield Lady Eagles to begin the second round of district play on Tuesday, Jan. 14 and fell 63-28.
Fairfield took a 16-4 lead in the fourth quarter and never looked back. The Lady Eagles outscored the Lady Lions 17-4 in the second quarter to take a 33-8 lead at halftime.
Fairfield came out in the third quarter and put 19 points on the board and held Teague to eight to make it a 52-16 game going into the final quarter. The Lady Lions outscored the Lady Eagles 12-11 in the final quarter, but it wasn’t enough as Fairfield took home the 6328 victory.
Bethanah Owens led the way for the Lady Lions with 14 points. Jayci Phillips added 6 points for Teague in the loss.
Teague rebounded from Tuesday’s setback to record a 43-37 road win over Westwood on Friday, Jan. 17. With a district record of 5-3, Teague occupies third place in District 203A Division 3 heading into Tuesday.
The Lady Lions traveled to Buffalo for a matchup with the Lady Bison on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Teague will host the Groesbeck Lady Goats on Friday, Jan. 24, before having a bye next Tuesday, Jan. 28.
