A record breaking 29 teams entered the 12th Annual Teague FFA Varmint Hunt Jan. 31 - Feb. 1. When all was said and done, Cothran Ag Services won the event with 1,165 points. Making up the team were Chance Sullivan, Cameron Cothran, Trevor Cooper, and James Curry. They also killed the heaviest coyote coming in at 41 pounds.
GK3, consisting of Kyle Fields and Lindy Wood, won second place with 855 points.
The heaviest racoon, 19 pounds, was killed by River Bottom Boars. Making up the team were Colton Pasket, Chase Scott, Brady Brown, and Peyton Leflore.
Diamond S killed the heaviest hog at 233 pounds. Team members were Blake Jenson, Coy Plemons, Wes Silar, and Kade Collins.
Matthew Brooke’s team killed the heaviest bobcat at 33 pounds. Making up the team was Matthew Brooke, Adrian Becks, Austin Harris, and Heston Brooke Gold sponsors were BWS Inspection and 5G Services. Silver sponsors were Texas KNES 99.1, R&S Dozer and Ag, Service Truck Depot, Johnson Cattle Marketing, 3W Service Center, and CW Shredding Services. Bronze sponsors were Farmers Insurance, Lyle OIl Company, Winters Oil Company, Escorp Construction Roofing, Zachary Mims, Jerry Hagen, Buffalo Animal Hospital, Prosperity Bank - Teague, The McKinney Family, The Tucker Family, Freestone Credit Union, and Groesbeck Livestock.
Prizes were donated by Embroidery & Design on 603, Closed on Sundays, Buffalo Sporting Goods, Jarvis Farm Equipment, Outdoor Country, Davis Country Store, and Robinson Trading Post.
