The old has gone,; the new is here…

There has been so much sickness the past several weeks. I got sick last Monday and had to miss a couple days of school due to fever and Strep. I hope everyone is doing better and that the majority of the sickness is behind us.

Basketball playoffs are underway. This is one of my favorite times of the year. I love the atmosphere of the games and watching the teams make their playoff run.

Somedays, I feel like I never slow down. I sometimes get something markedoff from my “to-do list”; only to add multiple new things to do. It is a never ending cycle. However, it is important to stop, take a break and breathe. God will sustain us and give us the strength we need to make it through each day.

This week’s Bible verse is 2 Corinthians 5:17. It says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here.”

The following is part of a devotional called “For I Know the Plans” by Broad-Street that I am reading “When you go to sleep at night, it requires you to lay down, close your eyes, and give up control. You probably won’t even think about the fact that God will sustain you through the night to prepare you for more newness. So when you wake up tomorrow, it will be another new day. It will be a day full of new opportunities to live out the plan that God has for you.”

In today’s busy and chaotic world, I am so thankful for the rest that I get each night. It allows me to wake up ready to tackle another day and I try my best to show God’s word and love to others.

This life that we live on earth is not going to be easy. Somedays we will be on a mountain top and other days, we will be in the valley. It is during those valleys that we grow the most. It is important that we have a personal relationship with Christ. We are human beings so we are never going to be perfect, but we should strive to be more Christ-like daily.

It is so easy to stress out about the things we deal with each day, but to be truly honest, none of those things are going to truly matter one day. We are not promised tomorrow on this earth, but we are promised tomorrow in eternity with our Heavenly Father.

My prayer for us this week is that we will not stress out about everything that we have to do, but we will be a new creation in Christ and share his love with others. Until next week, make him famous in all that you do!
