Be a light for others

I went back to school on Tuesday, Aug. 6. Students will start back next Wednesday, Aug. 14. I’m so excited to get to know all of my students this year. Meet the Teacher will be held on Monday night, Aug. 12. I always enjoy meeting all of my students each year. I like to start building a relationship with them from Day 1 and see how much they grow throughout the year.

This is my 14th year in education. So much has changed over the years since I started teaching. I love what I do and being able to work with the students every day. I just pray that I can have an impact on my students. All of my students are more than a test score.

Things are about to get very busy again with all of the sporting events and extracurricular activities. I love

going to all of the events and taking pictures that can be cherished as memories.

My wife, Katy, and I attended two funerals this past week. So often in life, we get so busy and really forget that this earth is not our home. We are not promised tomorrow on this earth, but we are promised tomorrow with our Father in Heaven. The things of this world truly do not matter in the long run. Many of us carry burdens with us every day. We just need to put our trust in the Lord because He will provide for us.

This week’s Bible verse is Proverbs 22:6. It says, “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”

I am so thankful that God called me to become a teacher. I enjoy getting to build relationships with my students each year and see what all they accomplish throughout the school year and as they continue on to junior high and high school.

I’m so thankful that I get to drive a bus route as well and get to see more students, elementary through high school, and have an impact on their lives as well. Getting to go to all the extracurricular activities to take photos and write articles is just the icing on the cake.

My prayer for us this week is that we will be a light for others in our life, especially the younger generation. They are always looking up to others. Until next week, make Him famous in all that you do!
