TISD cancels board election in May

The Teague ISD school board canceled its May election during the monthly meeting Tuesday, Feb. 25.

Jeff Gonzales, Place 4, and Brian Bowers, Place 2, are running unopposed for their positions.

TISD Superintendent Chris Skinner honored Teague Elementary Principal/ TISD Chief Academic Officer Crystal Adams, Director of Operations Craig Carpenter, and Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations Emily Evans with a certificate for Exemplary Performance for all that they do for the district.

The early resignation incentive was approved by the board. This allows the district to hire the best qualified teachers earlier in the hiring process instead of later in the summer.

The board approved a resolution to nominate Skinner as the Superintendent of the Year.

Skinner reviewed the TASB Update 124 with the board. It was the first reading of the update.

The board went into executive session at 6:41 p.m. and reconvened at 7:20 p.m. The board approved the resignation of elementary teacher Ashlyn Duck. They also approved the hiring of Christopher Johnson to serve as a police officer for the district. The contract renewals for directors/administrators were approved as well.

The meeting adjourned at 7:22 p.m. The next Teague ISD school board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 25, at 5:15 p.m.
