The Fairfield Lady Eagles got in a lot of practice on Friday, Aug. 9, and Sat, Aug, 10, with multiple scrimmages as they work towards another playoff run this season.
“We are rusty, but the improvement between Friday’s scrimmages and Saturday’s was noticeable. Overall, a lot of technical and skill work to do, but I fully believe we’ll be ready by district and playoffs,” Head Volleyball Coach Kelly Ridge said. “Some players are playing different positions than they’re used to and several are playing on the varsity team for the first time, so it’s understandable that we would be working on vibing as a team. But the girls are eager to learn and hungry to win, so as a coach, I’m fortunate to have a group of athletes who are willing to do what it takes to get where we need to be.”
When asked what her goal was as games begin this week, Ridge said, “Ultimately, to get 1% better every day. If we can do that between now and October, the end of district play, we will accomplish all of our goals and more.”
