Play Ball! Opening Day for the Teague Baseball and Softball Association was held on Saturday, March 22. There are a total of 285 youngsters playing on 25 teams this season.
Carrie Crutcher sang the National Anthem for the Opening Day festivities. The association held a raffle competition and the players that sold the most tickets were Brantley Johnson, Keatyn Ovalle, and Matti Rhoden. Winners of the raffle were Steven Steen, Cinnamon Archibald- Gonzales, Mike Terry, and Brad Leamon.
Games this season will be held throughout the week with t-ball games being played on Saturday. The league games will be played in Teague, Jewett, Buffalo, Centerville, and Normangee.
This year, Teague will be hosting four county tournaments as well.
Officers for this year include President/Baseball Commissioner Charlie Brummett, Vice President Jessica Scruggs, Treasurer Melissa Wren, Secretary Brooke Campbell, Softball Commissioner Kenny Satterwhite, T-Ball Commissioner Cassie Hurst, Field Maintenance Mike Morrow, Field Maintenance Emilio Martinez, Umpire Commissioner Drew Satterwhite, and Concession Commissioner Hailey Brown.
