The Teague Lions took fifth place at the district track meet last Wednesday, April 2, behind Elkhart, Mexia, Fairfield, and Westwood.
In the top athletes competition, J'Kybryen Harris grabbed fourth place with 19 points along with Westwood's Kasyn Dial and Groesbeck's Legend Mclean.
Felipe Diaz placed fourth in the 1600m run with a time of 5:08.554. In the 3200m run, he took fifth place with a time of 11:42.855.
In the 110m hurdles, Brayden Leoja ran a 17.153 for a fourth place finish. He also ran the 300m hurdles and took third place with a time of 45.340.
Garrett Winkler, Bryce Bates, Harris, and Zakary Leija ran a 43.728 for a fourth place finish in the 4x100m relay.
In the 4x200m relay, Bates, Winkler, Z. Leija, and Harris granned third place with a time of 1:32.062.
Kenneth Fulmer, Clifford Coleman, Reese Hankins, and Landon Bates ran the 4x400m relay in 4:01.874 for a sixth place finish.
Harris garnered third placer in the long jump competition with a distance of 21' 5¼".
In the shot put contest, Nyland Coaster won the gold with a throw of 43' 5". Jacob Matthews placed third with a distance of 41' 5".
Harris won the silver medal in triple jump with a jump of 43' 3". Bates grabbed third place with a jump of 42'4".
The top four athletes in each event advanced to the Area Track Meet, which was held on Wednesday, April 9, in Fairfield. Competing at the Area Track Meet with District 20 was District 19 consisting of Cameron Yoe, Lexington, Little River Academy, Rockdale, Franklin, Rogers, and Thrall.
