Every spring, the Community Care Club (CCC), a dedicated group of women residing in the FM 416 area on the south side of Richland Chambers Lake, hosts a massive garage sale to raise funds for their various charitable projects. This wild and crazy event is not just a garage sale; it is a celebration of community spirit and collective effort.
The tradition began over two decades ago when a few women in the area decided to channel their efforts towards a common goal: supporting local causes and helping those in need. What started as a modest gathering has now evolved into one of the most anticipated events in the community calendar, drawing attention and participation from far and wide.
Preparation and Contributions Preparation for the garage sale begins months in advance. Members of the CCC, along with volunteers from the local community, work tirelessly to get the word about the need for donations out to community members and of course, to invite everyone to participate. Preferred donations are furniture, tools, fishing gear, sports equipment, household items, toys, lawn and garden items, and more. On Drop-Off Day, Friday, April 25th, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., pickup trucks, trailers, and minivans line up to drop off their items. Volunteers unload, sort, price and place the items on the correct table.
