The Fairfield Lady Eagles defeated Groesbeck and Teague this past week to claim the district title. Fairfi eld finishes district play with an 11-1 record and enters the playoffs with an overall record of 13-3.
Fairfield will play Little River Academy on Friday, April 25, at Mart High School at 6 p.m. in the Bi-District Championship.
“I couldn’t be more proud of our softball team this season. These young athletes have demonstrated remarkable strength, resilience, and growth, earning the respect of both themselves and the community,” Coach Bailey Jones said. “As a young team, the future is incredibly bright, and we’re excited for what’s ahead. For now, our focus remains on taking it one game at a time and preparing for each opponent with purpose and determination.”
On Tuesday, April 15, Fairfield traveled to Groesbeck and brought home a 10-3 win over the Lady Goats.
The Lady Eagles jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back. Fairfield added a run in the third, two, in the fourth, and a run in each of the fifth, sixth, and seventh inning. Groesbeck scored two runs in the sixth inning and one in the seventh inning.
Fairfield had eleven hits in the game. Haylee Allen, Cadence Webster, Madelyn Morrison, Ryleigh Lane, and Madison High had two hits each as Evelyn Fultz had one hit. Fairfield had three errors to Groesbeck’s six errors.
Allen pitched for the Lady Eagles and struck out eleven batters.
The Lady Eagles hosted Teague on Thursday night, April 17, and took a big 15-0 victory in four innings of play over the Lady Lions.
Fairfield scored four runs in the first, eight in the second, one in the third, and two in the fourth for the win.
The Lady Eagles had 13 hits throughout the game. Allen and Fultz both had three hits as Morrison, and Kaylie Ridge each had two hits. Webster, Lane, and High each had a hit for Fairfield as well. Teague had four errors throughout the game.
