The Teague Volunteer Fire Department again thanks the Anthony Bobrow Trust, formed by 1957 Teague High School graduate Anthony (Tony) Bobrow, for continuing its annual support of the Teague VFD. Tony died in 2018 at 78, leaving his entire estate to the trust.

Over the years, the Anthony Bobrow Trust has helped purchase Utility 90 for the Teague VFD in addition to providing funds for a slide-out unit on Rescue 94 and purchasing a battery powered pressure ventilation (PPV) fan. Funds have also been put towards the Teague VFD training facility.

“With this, and other already planned donations, the totals in Teague since 2018 are over $400,000,” Trustee Dan Cutrer, a Dallas attorney who worked with Tony since the early 80’s, said. “With Covid there were more crisis situations; we increased the Trust contributions to over $90,000 in 2022. Tony and I talked at great length about how, as he always put it, ‘to improve life in Teague.’ The Fire Department was always at the top of the list and he always wondered if it needed a new fire truck.”

Cutrer said that they don’t announce most of the contributions in Teague.

“They’re not secret, just discrete. You may have seen a small plaque, some display and there’s wordof- mouth. I was stunned when I saw the totals. Tony’s Trust will have donated over $100 per resident in the past five years,” Cutrer said. “That’s not only making a huge difference in lives it touches, it’s also a boost to the local economy. If anybody asks, where’s my $100, look around you. Ten percent (10%) went to the Teague City and Teague ISD libraries; 11.4% to the Teague VFD.”

Tony’s first job was in high school, delivering newspapers in Teague.

Here’s what one recipient wrote to the trust, “Think how happy Tony would be to know what he is doing!” And that we’ll keep doing it.

“Tony invested very wisely and left his Trust well-funded,” Cutrer said. “In addition to Teague, Tony’s generosity and planning has allowed donations of about $2.3 million to nonprofits in Dallas County in the past five years.”

“Firm plans for the future are already in-place,” Cutrer ended. “We’re confi dent the Anthony Bobrow Trust will continue to “improve life in Teague” for the next generation.”
