Teague Senior News

Our early birds’Monday morning started well. Sharon Russell brought an assortment of cookies, and Juanice surprised us with a large container of Danish and butter cookies. Our dining room guests enjoyed them, and they all did a great imitation of Cookie Monster!

We were thrilled to have Sonya back with us for lunch and bingo on Wednesday. She is not only helpful but also a joy to be around; we appreciate her contributions just as much as she enjoys volunteering with various organizations. Special thanks to Crystal Richardson from Bristol Hospice in Corsicana for the incredible bingo gifts and calendars that help make our bingo weeks possible each month. We also thank our anonymous sponsor for adding prizes for our special blackout round, along with extra gifts for that day. Additionally, we appreciate our anonymous sponsor for the beautiful spring decorations for the planter in front of our center. A big thank you to Debbie Tugwell for making the front of our center attractive.

Thursday was a very special and enjoyable day. After lunch, Jennifer, our activity director, had a host of surprises, fun games, drawings, and more planned for our group. Everyone delighted in the moist and delicious decorated cupcakes she brought as an extra dessert. Our group participated in an amusing game called The Amazing Easter Race, with individual teams representing each table. Each table received a list of clues that led them to envelopes they needed to collect for the first-place prize. The winning team consisted of Mike, Colleen, Margaret, Toni, Roy, and Carol, with Collene designated as their captain, navigating the race based on the clues. Congratulations to everyone! The winners were treated to their choice of a prize from the gift table. We also had an egg hunt, with eggs containing candy, prize options, or money. Additionally, we had drawings for many other gifts. Thank you to all the generous friends who made our event last Thursday a success, including Jennifer, Anna, Roy, Roger, and our anonymous sponsor.

A special thank you goes out to a kind individual who wishes to remain anonymous for the fantastic bags filled with chocolates for all our guests after lunch in the dining room on Thursday. Hats off to our sweet supporters from First Assembly of God Church in Teague. Bettye Trask and her crew blessed are homebound with bags of treats and cards personally made and signed by some of the youth for our homebound Routes 1 and 2. Thank you to our drivers who were so sweet to deliver that, plus the extra meal provided from Fairfield during the holiday. Thank you for going over and Beyond, Carol and Donna. We’re also extremely grateful to Mike and Jennifer Sandlin for their very thoughtful and much-needed donation of a new microwave in honor of Thomas Smith. It brightens up the kitchen and is incredibly handy. A heartfelt thanks to Barbara Aderman for her much-appreciated Easter meal, sponsored by Thrivent through the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairfield. She and other thoughtful volunteers delivered complete Easter meals to Route 1 and Route 2 for our homebound guests that day.

We were closed on Good Friday; however, the hearts of our volunteers were open, and they did a wonderful job.

Please remember to pray for our men and women serving in the military, as well as for our country and community. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have recently lost loved ones.

Come visit us! Thank you, and God bless you, Vonda Brooke “GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
