The Fairfield Lady Eagles knocked-off the Little River Academy Lady Bees 12-11 in the Bi-District Championship at Mart High School on Friday night, April 25. The Lady Eagles move to 14-3 on the season.
“I’m incredibly proud of my girls. Their determination and perseverance were truly remarkable, and they showed so much heart throughout the entire game,” Coach Bailey Jones said. “A 12-11 win over Little River Academy is a huge accomplishment, and it’s a testament to their hard work, resilience, and teamwork. They stayed focused, never gave up, and found a way to come out on top. With such a young team, they’ve not only met but far surpassed everyone’s expectations. The future is incredibly bright for these girls.”
Fairfield will now take on the Grandview Lady Zebras in the Area Championship at Corsicana High School. The first game will be on Friday, May 2, at 6 p.m. The second game will be on Saturday, May 3, at 11 a.m. The third game, if necessary, will be played 30 minutes after the second game.
Both teams scored three runs in the first inning. Haylee Allen hit a three-run homerun in the top of the second inning to give the Lady Eagles a 6-3 lead. The Lady Bees added a run in the bottom of the inning to make it a 6-4 ballgame.
Little River Academy scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning to tie the game at 6. Both teams scored a run in the fifth inning to make it a 7-7 game.
The Lady Eagles scored a run in the top of the sixth inning to take an 8-7 lead. Fairfield added four more runs in the top of the seventh to increase their lead to 12-7. Little River Academy battled back and managed to score four runs in the bottom of the inning, but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Eagles brought home the 12-11 playoff win.
Fairfield had 11 eleven hits in the game as Little River Academy had ten hits. Madelyn Morrison had three hits as Cadence Webster and Reese Beaver had two hits each. Allen, Kaylee Ridge, Madison High, and Hadlie Morrison each had one hit.
The Bees had 9 errors throughout the game as the Lady Eagles had 6 errors. Allen pitched all seven innings for Fairfield and struck out five batters.
