Jake Hagen, a junior at Teague High School, caught a 7.37 pound bass on Lake Palestine on Saturday, April 26, to claim second place in the heaviest bass division and win a $500 scholarship. The winner caught a 7.7 pound bass. Overall, Hagen finished 34th out of 184 fishermen. Hagen will now compete in the Texas High School Bass Association State Tournament on Lake Conroe on Saturday, May 31, and Sunday, June 1. “I’m really excited and can’t wait for state,” Hagen said.
