Youth career expo opens today

The 2025 Youth Employment Solutions (YES) Expo will attract high school students from across the region to BASE Extraco Events Center in Waco today, May 1, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The annual event featuring businesses and colleges is expected to gather 2,000 high school students. High-demand careers will be showcased through interactive exhibits, handson demonstrations and real-world engagement.

The exhibits will include construction equipment, medical simulations, robotics and technology exhibits.

Organizers say the expo will introduce high school students to career pathways and provide valuable exposure to local industries. That will help shape the future workforce of the Heart of Texas region.

The event is sponsored by Workforce Solutions for the Heart of Texas, KWTXTV, McLennan Community College, Education Service Center Region 12 and Texas State Technical College.

BASE is a multi-use meeting and event center that can hold up to 3,000 people for business, arts, sports and entertainment venues. It is at 4601 Bosque Blvd. in Waco.
