Kenny Hughes was awarded the 2024 Citizen of the Year Award by the Fairfi eld Chamber of Commerce recently.
“Kenny is definitely a goal oriented person, and we would say he has accomplished quite a few (goals),” directors of the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce said. “He is very kind, respectful, and strong at the most important times.”
Kenny has been married to his wife, Nicole, for 31 years. They have two daughters. Olivia Carlise and husband, Alex, live in Haven, Connecticut where Olivea works for ESPN Disney as a Cyber Securities Engineer. Avie lives in Denton where she is a student at UNT majoring in Mechanical Engineering. She is currently employed with Caterpillar working on Industrial gas turbines for power generators.
Hughes served as a city councilman from 2009-2018 and served as mayor of Fairfi eld from 2018-2025. He has worked for GADCO for 36 years and in his spare time he works at Dessert by Mommacakes for the main boss, his wife.
While serving as mayor, Hughes helped renovate the green barn, purchase and design the Fairfield Municipal Building, and the new basketball court.
“As mayor, he created a level of transparency that citizens appreciate,” Chamber Executive Director Brenda Pate said. “He has been involved in community events and activities. Kenny has been instrumental in creating a harmonious relationship between the City of Fairfield and the Chamber of Commerce.”
