Teague Senior Center News

Hi everyone!

We noticed attendance was a bit low last week, but our spirits are still shining bright! We missed those who couldn’t make it, and we understand that life can get busy sometimes. Thankfully, our Meals on Wheels drivers stayed safe in the rain!

Bingo on Wednesday was a smaller crowd with under 10 players, but oh, what fun we had! Everyone ended up winning at least once, which is always a great joy. A big shout-out to our anonymous sponsor for the wonderful bingo gifts and prizes, and it’s so nice to have Colleen back with us!

Cinco de Mayo is a holiday that is celebrated on May 5th. It can be written that the Mexican Army’s victory over the French at the Battle of Pueblo in 1862. While not a widely celebrated holiday in Mexico itself, it is a major cultural event in the United States particularly among Mexican americans. It is a day to honor Mexican history, culture and pride often marked by parades, parties, food, music and dance.

Don’t forget to circle Friday, May 9th, on your calendars for our exciting Mother’s Day program! We’re planning door prizes, special recognitions, and lots of fun activities. The more, the merrier, so we hope to see you all there!

Let’s also take a moment to keep our brave military personnel in our thoughts, along with those who are going through difficult times after losing loved ones.

We’d love for you to drop by for a warm cup of coffee or a refreshing glass of iced tea this week! We can’t wait to catch up with everyone!

Take care and God bless you, Vonda Brooke “God Bless America”
