The Heart of Texas Behavioral Health Network (BHN) Board of Trustees has selected Ryan Adams as its next Chief Executive Officer.
Adams has served in many executive roles in his 25-year career with BHN, including as Chief Financial Officer, Deputy CEO, and Interim CEO.
“Ryan Adams was unanimously chosen by the board to lead our organization,” said Board Chairman Dennis Wilson, a retired Limestone County sheriff. “For three decades, he has been a servant leader. Our region will benefit tremendously from his leadership.”
Adams began his career at BHN in 1997 as a parttime accounts payable clerk while he was in college. After graduation, he joined BHN as a financial analyst, eventually spending over a decade as CFO, and over four years as Deputy CEO.
“With Ryan Adams at the helm, we are poised to make great strides in behavioral health,” Board Vice Chair and Waco City Councilman Josh Borderud said. “His knowledge and deep experience in the complex funding sources, regulatory structures, and governmental functions of our local mental health authority will serve our community well for years to come.”
Adams is a Certified Public Accountant, with two degrees from Tarleton State University, a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration.
“It is a privilege and an honor to have the opportunity to lead our wonderful and dedicated staff serving those in need,” Adams said. “I am grateful to the board of trustees, and I look forward to continuing the good work of BHN.”
Adams and Shelby, his wife of 22 years, reside in West. Their children, Kinslee and Shayne, both attend Texas A&M University.
The local mental health authority for a six-county region, the Heart of Texas Behavioral Health Network was established in 1968 and serves the residents of Bosque, Falls, Freestone, Hill, Limestone, and Mc-Lennan counties. With federal, state, and local funding, BHN provides services to individuals with behavioral health issues, to include substance use disorders, as well as those with developmental disabilities.
BHN is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic governed by a nine-member Board of Trustees and is the fifth largest healthcare provider in the region.
