Best interest rate attracts county officials

The Freestone County Commissioners Court named Community National Bank as the county’s depository at its Wednesday, May 7, meeting.

Community National outbid Citizens National and Prosperity Banks. Treasurer Mandy Chavers said the 1 percent interest rate offered for the county’s checking accounts by Community National exceeded the other two.

All the bids were competitive, but Community National gave a little more, according to Precinct 3 Commissioner Lloyd Lane, who helped analyze the bids.
