A Freestone County inmate appeared to be in medical distress and became unresponsive shortly after 10 p.m. on Sunday, May 18.
Fairfield EMS was on scene at the time and began life-saving measures along with FCSO personnel.
According to Freestone County Sheriff Jeremy Shipley, the inmate was transported to Fairfield ER where he was later pronounced deceased.
