DOROTHY MARIE L IDE

Dorothy Marie Lide, formerly of Mexia, passed away in Waxahachie on May 24, 2025, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Frost on Oct. 31, 1931, to Clyde and Edith Hawkins. She spent her childhood years playing with her older sister, Mildred and baby brother, RL. She was proud to be their sister and always had stories to tell about growing up with them. On June 21, 1951, she married the love of her life, Mandeville Lide, Jr. Together, they had three children, Vicki, Bobby, and Billy. Marie was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother.
She always had a pot of coffee on for friends that stopped in and a meal for those that were hungry. Marie was always an active member of the church wherever she lived. She was always doing for others. She had many special friendships throughout her life and was “Mamaw” to everybody, not just her family. She was especially known for her crocheting and cinnamon rolls. Although we are saddened by her passing, we rejoice in the fact that above everything that Marie did or was, she was a Christian. That was her greatest accomplishment and what she will be remembered for the most.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Mandeville Lide, Jr.; her daughter, Vicki Sharon Smith; her parents; siblings, Mildred and RL and many other loved ones.
She is survived by her two sons, Bobby Lide and wife, Deana and Billy Lide and wife, Tammy; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, May 26, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home with Bobby Lide and Nikki and Mike Terry offi ciating. Visitation with the family was prior to the service from 9 to 10 a.m. Interment was in the Cotton Gin Cemetery. Jared Lide, Chris Lide, Randy Ratliff, Justin Day, Jody Day, and James Hawkins served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Rusty Lide, Danny Sessums, Ken Alpert, and Clinton Hendrick.
