Teague Senior News

We are starting this week off strong with a dozen donuts from Carl this Monday morning. Sharon has upheld her tradition by replenishing our cookie supply for our morning group and others in the dining room. They mysteriously disappeared before the week was over! Juanice generously shared animal cookies with everyone, and the contributions keep coming. Kathy Self brought in delicious blueberry muffins and a chocolate chip cookie cake. Additionally, Barbara Aderman from the Lord’s Storehouse in Teague delivered a large box of mini chocolate chip cookie snack packs. We are truly blessed with such thoughtful people! A big thank you to Bette Trask from the First Assembly of God Church in Teague for the mini chocolate chip cookie snack packs destined for our homebound clients on Route 1 and Route 2. We will distribute them on Wednesday, June 11, through Meals on Wheels.

I had the pleasure of meeting one of our young volunteers on Monday, who has made it a point to help at the senior center during holidays, summers, and whenever he can. He connects well with our residents and stepped up to assist me with meal deliveries. His enthusiasm and assertiveness made a significant difference, as he frequently reminded me, “Miss Vonda, you passed it again!” His guidance was invaluable.

On Wednesday, we had a fantastic visit from Erin Tacker, one of our Bingo sponsors from Fairfield Nursing and Rehab. Her positive energy always elevates our dining room and sets a wonderful tone for the afternoon. She brought an impressive selection of bingo gifts for us to enjoy. I also want to recognize Peggy Martin, one of our dedicated bingo players, for her generous contribution of terrific prizes that day. Together, we had a remarkable selection of prizes and a lot of fun. It was great to see Sonya and her grandson, Jaxson, back from their beach vacation - someone has to enjoy the sunshine!
