The Fairfield Eagles traveled to Maypearl for their season opener on Friday night, Aug. 30, and fell to the Panthers 42-34 in overtime.

“I was proud of our effort against Maypearl. I’m glad we were out in some adverse situations. The kids responded well,” Head Coach John Bachtel said. “We have to go win those games. We need to fix some things, but effort is not one of them.”

Maypearl found the end zone first on a 69-yard touchdown run with 10:18 left in the first quarter. The PAT was good to give the Panthers a 7-0 lead.
