Teague Senior News

We ended June with delicious donuts from Peggy and kicked off July 1 with a delightful hot lunch featuring meatballs with brown gravy, rice, roasted Brussels sprouts, and banana pudding. A big thank you to Debbie McDonald for providing the sweeteners for our coffee and tea. She consistently contributes, whether by bringing useful items for our kitchen and dining room or by volunteering in the dining area. I’d also like to thank Scott for his outstanding help; a friend remarked, “He is incredibly capable of serving, and he is so efficient. He does what needs to be done without being told.” We have a fantastic team of people who care about the center and its members, ensuring everything runs smoothly. We still miss Colleen, who is currently taking care of her mother, as well as Butch, Jackie, and his mom. It’s nice to see The Coasters back with us! Willie and Autry keep us in line, and I miss Barbara when she’s not at her table; she’s often busy taking care of them. That table is one of the most generous, always willing to serve, and has such a positive attitude.

Wednesday featured one of everyone’s favorite menus: pancakes, sausage patties, scrambled eggs, and fruit. Thanks to the staff at the Fairfield Senior Center for their excellent work.

To add to our excitement, we had a fantastic “knock it out of the park” Wednesday. Thanks to our sweetheart, Erin Tacker from Fairfield Nursing and Rehab, for sponsoring an amazing selection of Bingo prizes. Not only did we enjoy our usual fun with Bingo, but Jennifer also hosted a wonderful 4th of July program filled with interesting trivia games, door prizes, and drawings for extra special gifts. Thanks again to one of our sponsors, Nicole Hughes with Desserts by MommaCakes. We combined Bingo with the 4th of July program between each session, intermission, and before blackout. Everything worked out well; we stayed a little later, but nobody complained. If you missed it, you missed a good time!
