PATRICIA LYNN JONES

Memorial services for Patricia Lynne Jones will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Pastor Robby Martin will officiate.

Patricia Lynne Jones passed away peacefully the morning of June 6th, after a two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer.

She was born on December 31st, 1957, to Wayne and Sonda Bell just 10 minutes after her best friend and partner in crime, Melissa Gwynne, came into the world. Their young parents had made a deal, Mama could name the babies, but Daddy got to decide what they were called, so they were introduced to the world as Gwynne and Lynne.

Always together, it was difficult for many to tell them apart, however, Lynne and Gwynne were not identical, but fraternal twins. They each had their own personality and way of doing things, and Lynne very much did things her way. She excelled at any task she put her mind to, and had high expectations of herself and her sisters, much to their chagrin.

Lynne, Gwynne, and Chelle were very close growing up and always had each other’s back no matter what kind of trouble they got into. Even if that meant hunting for a hubcap on the side of the road in the middle of the night, taking credit for each other’s baking creations at the office Christmas party, or just looking out for each other while line dancing at The Cowboy in Mexia on a Friday night. Which also happened to be where Lynne would meet a new central character in her story… Lee Aulton Jones.

Though it might not have met everyone else’s expectations of a storybook romance, Lynne and Lee Aulton were happy together for more than 40 years. They enjoyed going dancing together and drove all over Texas to see the rodeo. She was a beloved member of the Jones family, and became known as MawBell to Lee Alton’s granddaughters, Madison and Mallory.

As her parents aged, Lynne took meticulous care of them, even if that meant keeping them in line. This earned her the title of “The Warden” from her daddy, who also happened to be the person from whom she inherited those particular qualities.

Lynne was also an adoring aunt to her nieces and nephew. For them, she was Aunt Lynne, the good one, who could do no wrong and never disciplined them unlike those other two sisters. Certainly not any sort of warden. Though her nephew did like to tease her by calling the twins, Aunt Gwynne and “Old Lynne.”

Lynne had a strong Christian faith. She was a long-time member and the treasurer of The Church of Christ of Freestone, where she attended alongside her family.

Lynne was preceded in death by her parents Wayne and Sonda Bell.

She is survived by her best friend and sister Gwynne Sartor and husband James of Teague, Tx; life partner Lee Aulton Jones of Fairfield, Tx; sister Michelle Childs and husband Bruce of Fairfield, Tx; nieces Rachael Marshall and husband Geoff of McKinney, Tx, and Shae Sartor of Teague, Tx; nephew Heath Jones of Dallas, Tx; great niece and nephew Caitlyn and Jackson Marshall, all of the Jones family, and many close friends.

Until we meet again, we will love and miss you always.
