Teague Senior News

The excellent cooks and staff at the Fairfield Senior Center returned from a three-day weekend and hit the ground running. Last week’s lunches were delicious. While our attendance is still smaller than usual, the atmosphere, good times, and great meals have not diminished. We are open Monday through Friday, except during holiday closures, and we serve lunch at noon.

Every Wednesday, we host Bingo right after lunch, and once a month, we typically have an extra celebration featuring games, door prizes, and drawings. A special thanks goes out to all my volunteers and dedicated drivers. Because of their labor of love, time, and transportation, we can serve the homebound on Routes 1 and 2. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Chance, one of our favorite young volunteers. Chance has been volunteering with us for several years. In the absence of drivers, he and I delivered meals on Thursday and Friday. He doesn’t just deliver meals; he is very observant, ensuring that our clients have no other needs that we could assist with. It’s the little things - his sweet, thoughtful, and kind nature - that brighten their day. Whether it’s helping someone with their television or bringing them a Coke from the refrigerator, he takes the time to greet everyone with a smile and leaves in the same manner.

Last week, we all enjoyed Bingo with Sindra McLean from Teague, Mexia, and Groesbeck Nursing. Rehab has generously sponsored us with excellent prizes! Sindra does a fantastic job calling the numbers, and we always look forward to her visits.
