TCEQ Fines City of Wortham $24,500 for Sewage Violations

2 Subsequent Investigations Sparked by Anonymous Complaints Produced No Evidence of System Failures

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality fined the City of Wortham $24,500 for violating the Texas Water Code and Commission Rules in a letter dated May 19.

The letter notes that the violations were discovered during a review of filed records Oct.30 and then documented in a letter from the TCEQ Compliance Monitoring Team Nov. 25. The alleged violations involved operation of the city’s sewage facility.
