Reflections from Egg Island

We spent four days in Northern Wisconsin in a magnificent home on an Egg Island resort home as our son’s guest in a free place quasi owned by our in-laws. It was on Lake Michigan where you could watch the sunsets on the water and it made for a memory to be tucked away and brought out on a cloudy day.

In the makeup of our present society, white people make up approximately 50% plus change and everybody else makes up the other 50% minus change. However, the only minority that I saw was a young black teenage girl who was a server in a restaurant. This is the result of being able to economically lock certain people out of parts of America. Even though most of the guests were from upper middle income to affluent, in the Hamptons on Long Island described in The Great Gatsby, all would have been yard people or waiters at the parties. As they say, the size of the fish is relative to the pond.

If you can be happy with your own life, you are ahead of the other horses going into the home stretch no matter how sleek they look.
