Howdy Folks, Welcome to the first edition of Ask Lone Star SAM. Yup, that’s me -- Lone Star SAM. You can call me Sam, but just so you know, Sam stands for Straight Answer Man. Yes sir and ma’am. Ask me a straight question and I’ll get you a straight answer. No offense to the good folks who work at this here newspaper. But my job isn’t to get some big long story or nothing. Nope. You ask me a question and I head straight to the source and get the answer. Pretty simple, like me.
So this week, someone identifying themselves as A Concerned Citizen asked me this: “I have been reading recently about properties in Teague being condemned and having to be demolished within 30 days. There are 3 building in Teague on Main Street at 5th that have collapsed or are nothing but shells. (There are actually several along Main St. in Teague.) Why are what remains of these 3 buildings still standing and why haven’t the lots been cleared? My personal take is I understand if our town is to unable to preserve some of our structures, but why keeps the ruins?”
Thanks Concerned Citizen. I took your question to Mr. Monks, the city mayor in Teague. Here’s what he said.
