Teague Senior News

Last week was certainly not pleasant, with temperatures soaring to triple digits—not the mid-70s I had hoped for. My drivers can confirm it was anything but cool.

First, I want to extend my gratitude to Debbie McDonald for her thoughtfulness in bringing two bottles of honey mustard salad dressing to our Center. I mentioned my struggle to find it, and the next day, she delivered! This dressing is a favorite for a very special person at her table, even though Debbie doesn’t eat salad herself. Huge thanks also go to our Anonymous sponsor, who generously provided treats for our morning group at the center, including delicious apple fritters and jalapeno sausage kolaches last week. And let’s not forget Peggy and Carl, who keep us stocked with ginger snaps—a crowd favorite.

Wednesday was filled with excitement as we wrapped up July in style. We were thrilled to have Brandi Rhodes from Accent Care call our bingo game for the second time last month! Her dedication to helping others is commendable, and she was instrumental in preparing Coke and root beer floats for the July birthday party. Brandi did such an outstanding job that we made sure to treat her to a well-deserved float! Hats off! to Jennifer for adding to our floats with delicious chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies. A great big thank you as well to our anonymous sponsor for providing irresistible bingo prizes. I also want to acknowledge Sharon for stepping in during Sonya’s absence; she was incredibly helpful in setting up for the event amid the festivities. Our appreciation for the hardworking kitchen staff at the Fairfield Senior Center! Even though head cook Darlene is out of state for a few weeks, Daniel and Virginia are doing a fantastic job making her proud. It’s hard to believe we’re already in August, and students and staff will be back in school in less than two weeks!
