Freestone County Commissioners made decisions and discussed several matters at their meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 3, but perhaps the most significant was an announcement from County Judge Linda Grant.
“I have a letter to the members of the Freestone County Commissioners Court: Please accept this letter as my official notice of my retirement as County Judge. My last day in office will be Sept. 15,” Grant said. “Serving the citizens of Freestone County for the past 25+ years has been an honor!
I’m grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside each of you in our county government. I appreciate you all more than you know. Thank you again for the opportunity to serve. We’ll have a meeting Tuesday (Sept. 9) for y’all to accept that-“ “What if we don’t want to acceptit?”askedCommissioner Andy Bonner, laughingly.
