This Friday night marks the halfway point for the Texas High School football season, and man is it moving faster than a KaVontae Turpin kickoff return for a touchdown! The non-district portion of everyone’s schedule is almost over, while one district dives right into it this weekend. No district race has even come close to being determined. Heck, we still have a ways to go. As most every coach will tell you, it’s the district games that matter the most and begin the march towards that state championship trophy. Here’s this week’s previews for the Bi-Stone coverage area.
Class 1A/Six-Man Oglesby Tigers (4-0) District 14-1A/Six-Man at Coolidge Yellowjackets (3-1) District 12-1A/Six-Man Friday, September 19, 2025 at Coolidge Yellow Jacket Athletic Complex next to Coolidge High School in Coolidge. 7:30 p.m. kickoff Oglesby comes in fresh off a mercy-rule win over the Waco Methodist Children’s Home Bulldogs, 74-20. Sophomore QB Holdyn Goff led the Tigers with 102 yards passing, and a passing touchdown, while picking up 272 yards on the ground, scoring seven rushing touchdowns. The Tigers have several offensive weapons to choose from in the form of runningback Callan Webb, receivers Jack Hendricks, and Abram Shaw. All returners from the Tigers state semifinal appearance in 2024.
Coolidge – who also defeated WMCH earlier this season – fell to rival Oakwood at home last Friday night, 7636. Injuries continue to hit the Jackets, but Coach Thomas Tritz has built into this team a “no quit” attitude, even when they could have let the Panthers mercy-rule them last Friday. “It was tough night for sure,” Tritz said. “But our kids battled till the final whistle.” The Jackets will need all the muscle they can manage this Friday to put a halt to Oglesby’s run game. Devonta Johnson leads Coolidge’s offense, and is the leading passer and rusher on the team. Throw in JadenAbor, and Brandon Barron into the mix, and this Yellowjacket offense can do some explosive things. This will be a good game to catch if you’re in the area.
