Citizen Medallion Dedication for Cynthia Ann Parker

Several members of the Sons of the Republic of Texas and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, along with many descendants of the Parker family, gathered June 12 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, at the gravesite of Cynthia Ann Parker to honor her as a former Republic of Texas citizen. The George B.

Erath Chapter – Waco SRT, led by Trevor Wardlaw, planned and organized the event. The Sterling C. Robertson DRT Chapter – Waco sponsored the DRT Citizen Medallion.

Parker Black, Children of the Republic of Texas President General, and her sister, Emery Black—both descendants of Elder John Parker—conducted the DRT Medallion Ceremony and unveiled the marker. Sharon Farnsworth, Sterling C. Robertson Chapter President, represented the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and spoke of the meaning of the Citizens Medallion.
