The Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Sterling C. Robertson Chapter of Waco, will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, Oct. 2, at the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce Building, 101 S. Third St., Waco. The business meeting and presentation will begin at 1 p.m.
The guest speaker will be Trevor Wardlaw of the Erath Chapter, Sons of the Republic of Texas. He will present a slideshow on the marking of the grave of Cynthia Ann Parker with a Citizens Medallion in June at Fort Sill, Okla. The Sterling C. Robertson Chapter sponsored the medallion and traveled to take part in the ceremony. The public is invited to attend this presentation.
The Daughters of the Republic of Texas was founded on Nov. 6, 1891. Its mission is to perpetuate the memory and spirit of the men and women who achieved and maintained the independence of Texas; to encourage historical research into the earliest records of Texas; to foster the preservation of documents and relics; to encourage the publication of records of individual service of the soldiers, sailors, and patriots of the Republic; and to promote the celebration of Texas Honor Days.
