The Fairfield Eagles traveled to Teague on Friday night, Oct. 11, and defeated the Lions 44-6 in their district opener. Fairfield moves to 6-0 overall and Tegaue goes to 3-3.
“It is a big deal to win the first district game,” Fairfield Head Coach John Bachtel said. “The goal every year is to win the first regular season game because that starts the season off on a great note, to win the first district game because that starts district off on a great note, and to win the playoff game. We break the year up into three short seasons. So, it was a big win. And it is always a big win when you beat your cross town rival.”
Fairfield had 226 rushing yards. Jason Brackens had 63 yards, Khamrion Ingram and Kohl Collins 57 yards each, and Kyden Rodriguez 49 yards.
