The Fairfield Lady Eagles defeated Groesbeck on Friday, Oct. 17, in three sets to move to 10-0 in district play and 28-6 overall. Fairfield won the road game 2725, 25-21, and 25-22.
“Our win Friday was big -- it clinched a district championship for us,” Coach Cathy Reeves said. “We were down in all three games to a hard-hitting, determined Groesbeck team, and had to find ways to fight back and win in straight sets. I think that will serve us well in our playoff run. One of the goals we set for this year was to go through district undefeated, so this next week is a big week for us. We need to stay focused and not look ahead as we face Elkhart and Buffalo to finish off district play.”
Fairfield played Elkhart on Tuesday night, Oct. 21. The Lady Eagles will travel to Buffalo to take on the Lady Bison this Friday, Oct. 24, at 4:30 p.m. to wrap-up district play.
