DORIS RUTH (BLACK) CASEY

Doris Ruth (Black) Casey, 90, of Fairfield, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Lanely, Texas, in 1935, Doris was the youngest of four children born to Hiram and Eunice Black. A proud lifelong resident of Fairfield, her roots and relationships ran deep within the community she loved.

She was married to Roy Casey, Jr. for 70 years, and together they built a strong, steady life grounded in hard work, family, and faith. Through every season, they stood side by side — partners in both life and business — shaping a legacy that reflected commitment, resilience, and love in action. Doris was the mother of Kathy, and Roy III (“Little Roy”), who preceded her in death and surely welcomed her into the arms of Jesus with a joyful shout of “Glory!”

Doris spent many years serving her community through the Fairfield schools, first as a P.E. teacher and later as a school secretary to several principals, where her caring heart and practical approach touched countless students and staff. She was also a proud member of the Women’s Missionary Auxiliary (WMA), a longtime member of the History Club, and a faithful servant in her church.

Alongside her family, Doris worked tirelessly for Casey Propane and R&D Land and Cattle Company — keeping both businesses going through her strong work ethic and unshakable determination. Her steady hand and commitment kept things moving forward even in the toughest times. She loved to travel and spent years exploring the world, collecting memories and stories that she shared with humor and sparkle.

Known for her impeccably clean and organized home, Doris believed that everything had its place and that every day was better when you looked your best. She loved having her hair and nails done and always presented herself with grace and pride. As her family lovingly says, “She was Martha more than a Mary” — a woman of action, always busy, always giving, and always making sure everything was just right.

Beneath her polished exterior was a feisty, determined spirit and a deep loyalty to those she loved. Doris was quick to stand up for her family and never backed down from doing what she believed was right. Her legacy is one of strength, devotion, and unwavering love — a true matriarch whose example will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

She leaves behind her husband of 70 years, Roy Jr.; her daughter Kathy and husband Richard Best; their children Casey Best and wife Lindsay, and their children Liv and Brooks; and Brittany Bird and her son Braden.

She is also survived by her beloved son Roy III’s daughters — Megan Jones and husband James, and their children Kennedy, Owen, and Masey; and Amy Nold and husband Brian, and their son Caleb.

Visitation with the family was held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 9:00am to 10:00am at Griffin- Roughton Funeral Home in Fairfield. Funeral services followed immediately at 10:00am with Pastor Ed Ridge officiating. Burial followed at Lake Chapel Cemetery.
