The 2025 cross-country season came to a close this past weekend, as the Bi-Stone had two individuals competing at the state crosscountry meet at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.
In Class 3A, Fairfield’s John Kuzmich came in 29th out of 151 runners in the 5,000 meter run. Kuzmich, a sophomore, finished the course with a time of 16:46.70.
In Class 1A, Coolidge’s Devonta Johnson finished 104th in the 5,000 meter run, completing the course at Old Settlers Park with a time of 19:58.10. Johnson, a junior this year, turned around and played football that evening, where he rushed for 158 yards on six carries, and scored four touchdowns in the Yellowjackets mercy rule win over Gholson. The young man also played defense in the game, intercepting two passes, forcing a fumble, and making four tackles.
