The Grand Band from Eagleland took sixth place at the UIL State competition on Tuesday, October 28, at Baylor University’s McLane Stadium.

“This is a historic moment in the band’s history. Sixth place in the Texas State Military Marching Championship is the highest distinction the Fairfield band has made,” Band Director Russell Holland said. “There are thousands of bands across the state of Texas, most are corps style, but even among the military bands (like ours) only a few qualify to even make it to a state competition. Last year we made it for the first time and made tenth place. Sixth place is a big improvement and we hope to do even better next year.”

Selections in their performance include Rise Fanfare written by Russell Holland, Americans We Written by Henry Fillmore, Noble Intro March written by Russell Holland, and Noble Men of Kyle written by Col. Joe Tom Haney.
